HDS (Hébergeur de Données de Santé) is France's mandatory certification for any organization hosting health data on behalf of third parties — defined under Article L.1111-8 of the Code de la Santé Publique. If your application processes patient records, medical imaging (DICOM), lab results, prescriptions, or any personal health data of French patients, you are legally required to use an HDS-certified host. Our Strasbourg datacenter holds this certification. If you're unsure whether HDS applies to your use case, we recommend consulting with a French healthcare compliance advisor — but as a general rule: if you handle French patient data, you need HDS.
